Steps In Establishing A Scholarship or Contributing to Another Gift Fund Through the SCC Foundation

b.       If you wish to NAME a scholarship, room, wing or building (for example, in honor of living persons, in memory of persons who have died, for organizations, for events, and for graduating classes), you must meet the following minimum requirements:  To NAME an ENDOWED Scholarship = $5,000; to NAME a RESTRICTED Scholarship = An initial gift of $500 and a pledge to contribute at least $500 per year for another five years; for a RESTRICTED Room, Wing or Building Gift = min. 25% of the total room, wing or building cost.  NAME of Scholarship, Room, Wing or Building:  _________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

 

c.       Do you wish to ENDOW the gift fund?  ____YES  ____NO  ("Endow" means that SCC will invest the gift so that investment earnings will generate funding to accomplish the stated purpose.  Additional gifts may be added at any time.).  Requires min. initial gift of $5,000.  Annual awards are prorated by account at 4% of the rolling quarterly 3-year average fund balance as of March 31. As long as the endowment has earned an amount equal to at least 5% of the rolling quarterly 3-year average fund balance, another ½ of 1% helps fund SCCF operations. The balance of any earnings remains invested to help grow the fund principal.  Persons establishing an Endowment receive an annual account summary. 

 

d.       Do you wish to RESTRICT the gift fund?  ____YES   ____NO  ("Restrict" means that the gift or a portion of this and any future gifts will be expended for the purpose stated until such time as the account has a $0 fund balance.  Additional gifts can be added to the account at any time to extend the life of the scholarship, gift or award.  Although funds are invested short term, earnings do not accrue to this Restricted account, but to the Foundation to help defray operations expenses.)  Donor can create a "named" restricted scholarship with a pledge to contribute a minimum of $500 each year for five years.  The fund can be converted to an Endowed Account when requirements for such are met (see c. above.) Major donors to Restricted accounts receive an annual account summary eff. Feb. 2006.

Note: Tuition cost for 2006/2007 is $102 per credit hour. Tuition for 1 year of 30 credit hours @ $102 per credit hour is $3,060 for an Iowa resident (or Carl Sandburg College, Illinois student).  Books are an additional expense and vary by program, averaging  $600 per year. (International students & out-of-state students pay $105 per credit hour.)

(a) Provide a Direct Gift or Gift of Real Estate worth at least $1,000,000; or

(b) Pledge to contribute at least $1,000,000 at a rate of not less than $100,000 per year for 10 years; or

(c) Arrange for a Deferred Gift of at least $2,500,000; or

(d) Agree to make an Annual Gift of at least $50,000 each year for 10 years and arrange for a Deferred Gift of at least $1,500,000. 

 

Hall of Fame "Gold" ($100,000+ cum.)* – To qualify, you must:

(a) Provide a Direct Gift or Gift of Real Estate worth at least $100,000; or

(b) Pledge to contribute at least $100,000 at a rate of not less than $10,000 per year for 10 years; or

(c) Arrange for a Deferred Gift of at least $250,000; or

(d) Agree to make an Annual Gift of at least $5,000 each year for 10 years and arrange for a Deferred Gift of at least $150,000. 

 

Hall of Fame ($10,000+ cum.)* – To qualify, you must:

(a) Provide a Direct Gift or Gift of Real Estate worth at least $10,000; or

(b) Pledge to contribute at least $10,000 at a rate of not less than $1,000 per year for 10 years; or

(c) Arrange for a Deferred Gift of at least $25,000; or

(d)Agree to make an Annual Gift of at least $500 each year for 10 years and arrange for a Deferred Gift of at least $15,000. 

 

The President's Club ($5,000+ cum.)* – To qualify, you must:

(a) Provide a Direct Gift or Gift of Real Estate worth at least $5,000; or

(b) Pledge to contribute at least $5,000 at a rate of not less than $500 per year for 10 years; or

(c) Arrange for a Deferred Gift of at least $12,250; or

(d) Agree to make an Annual Gift of at least $250 each year for 10 years and arrange for a Deferred Gift of at least $7,500.
