Foundation Scholarship Application

Submission Deadline: April 1, 2012 by 4:30 p.m. CST

Fall 2012/Spring 2013 Awards

The SCC Foundation is proud to assist deserving students enrolling at Southeastern Community College through the generosity of local businesses, professional associations, and individuals. Donors determine the criteria for their scholarships, thus eligibility requirements vary. The Scholarship Selection Committee strives to match each applicant's eligibility with possible scholarship opportunities. All awards are based on the availability of funds. Most awards are credited toward the recipient's tuition at SCC. In some cases, books, required course supplies, and other expenses are allowable. Current recipients may be eligible for continuation awards, but must submit a new application, meet specific cumulative grade point averages (2.0 for Freshmen and 2.2 for Sophomores, unless otherwise stated by a specific scholarship) and continue to meet designated scholarship criteria. Applications must be complete to receive consideration (i.e. Transcripts, FAFSA SAR Report and two reference letters (min.) must be submitted to the Foundation Office by the stated deadline.)

Other important information - Please Read:

  • Valedictorians and Salutatorians from accredited Iowa, Illinois and Missouri High Schools receive FREE Iowa tuition and books if enrolling at SCC. (see SCC Admissions Office for details).
  • To be eligible for second semester and second year renewal awards, SCC Freshmen must achieve a 2.0 term GPA and SCC Sophomores must maintain a 2.2 cumulative GPA, unless otherwise stated by a specific scholarship.
  • Preference WILL be given to students with reference letters attached to their applications (assists in decision-making); some of our scholarships require them. For details refer to Item #11 and the list of SCC Foundation scholarships as well.
  • Carl Sandburg College students are eligible to apply for scholarships through both SCC and CSC. SCC awards to CSC students may be limited to books.
  • Southeastern Community College was recently awarded a $558,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to be used to fund student scholarships over the next five years for academically talented, financially needy students. The NSF S-STEM grant will fund need-based scholarships for tuition, fees, books, and other allowable expenses for qualifying students who pursue careers in Electronics Technology, Drafting Technology, Precision Machining and Pre-Engineering while enrolled at Southeastern Community College. Students who are beginning a two year program will be given first consideration.
  • For NSF Stem scholarship consideration, applications must be complete to receive consideration. That is, students must:
    • Have completed Algebra (or higher) and one Lab Science course by the time of enrollment at SCC,
    • Be eligible for federal financial aid (FAFSA) and provide to the SCC Foundation a copy of the FAFSA SAR Report,
    • Provide the Foundation Office a transcript which shows a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and
    • Provide the Foundation Office two reference letters.

Please complete this application accurately and thoroughly. Any item left blank could result in loss of consideration.
