"Bringing nurses of all ages together to benefit each other, the nursing profession and the community"
Many thanks to the tireless organizers of the 3rd Annual Daniel A. Ring Memorial Bike Ride, SCC employees, Kim Tracy, Pam Peterson and Brian McAtee, and Gary Szymula of Bike Burlington! Graphic Communications student, Marty George, designed the t-shirt. It is wonderful to see the event that they developed three years ago continue to be so successful. (If you'd like to volunteer next year, give one of them a call!) Thanks, too, to all who rode, sponsored, supported and helped spread the word!
The weather on Saturday, September 24th was glorious and the three rides - the ice cream ride, the 15 mile city perimeter ride and the 50 mile country ride - provided options for everyone.* About 50 riders turned out to salute Dan while raising $2,400 for the SCC Foundation Dan Ring Memorial Endowed Nursing scholarship fund! *Not everyone on the ride hailed from southeast Iowa, meaning the publicity worked well, too. A mother and her two daughters came from Galesburg as a birthday gift to one of the girls (!). There was also a travelling steel worker from Michigan who is currently on the job in Burlington...he said his goal is to ride every day, and since he also aims to ride at least 15 miles in every state he works, the Dan Ring Ride fit the bill.
